Kyphosis

Kyphosis is usually the gradual bending forward that occurs in the spine with age. It can also be caused by crush fractures. It is common as people get older. It can cause compression on either the spinal cord or the nerve roots in the lumbar spine giving rise to a myelopathy or lumbar canal stenosis or it can occur above a fusion in a patient with osteoporosis.
