Adjacent Segment Disease

Following spinal surgery the levels above and below the fusion have more stress put upon them as they need to make up for the movement lost by the fusion. This wear and tear above or below is referred to as “adjacent segment disease”. It can be modified by the use of dynamic stabilisers during the spinal fusion operation.
