Postero Lateral Cervical Fusion

Cervical fusions can be done either from the front or from the back. If the pathology is mainly posteriorly (at the back) then a decompression and posterior fusion is carried out (postero lateral cervical fusion). Sometimes for added stability an anterior fusion might be supplemented with a posterior fusion.

Following any major surgery and especially spinal fusion it is important to follow the instructions given to you afterwards to get the best possible result. For more information see our After Surgery page.
